What is your favourite thing about the job?
"Coming in and greeting new people, and talking to the lovely regulars we have. I also love my staff, they work there best for me - it is very appreciated"
What personal skills/qualities are good for this role?
"Experience helps, working your way up and getting to know the roles and the business better. Great Customer service skills and just be your best and happy to help everyone!"
Worst thing about your job?
"The same as most jobs- the feeling of not having enough time in the day to get everything done"
How did you decide you wanted to take the role as a Restaurant Manager?
"I have always worked in a bar/Restaurant role so it's always been my ambition to work my way up."
How did you get the job?
"I started off by just handing my CV in at the Portland Restaurant. Starting as a Waiter moving up to a Supervisor, Assistant Manager then to finally being offered the Management place - it can sometimes be slow, but if you're passionate about what you want to do, stick to it!"
What did you want to be when you were younger?
"As most boys dreams, I wanted to be a footballer as I used to play Semi-Pro in Goa."
Dream Job?
"On the beach - Own my own bar"
If you could be any animal what would you be and why?
"A Bird, Maybe a parrot (but not a caged one). For Freedom to fly when and where I want!"

Meet Pete, our Leisure Manager/Personal Trainer.
How long have you worked here?
"11 Months"
What is your job role?
"I am the Leisure Club manager for Thistle Manchester's 'Just Gym'"
Your favourite thing about the job?
"Everything! Everyday is different, you come in to work not knowing who you are going to meet. Greeting the customers I've got to know and helping/watching them meet their targets!"
What skills/personal qualities are good for this job?
"Good customer skills, being polite and welcoming when guests come in making them feel comfortable. Reliable and responsible as you have to deal with strong chemicals for cleaning and be aware of general hazards at all times."
What's the worst thing about the job?
"People complaining about the pool. To me, it's the best pool in Manchester. You tend to have it to yourself, you relax in it. It's perfect for rehabilitation and you can get a good workout from it - just ask an instructor for one of our swimming programmes"
How did you decide to get in to fitness and training?
"I've always enjoyed sport, watching and playing so it stems from my interests. There is also no better feeling than knowing you can change someone's life for the better."
What does it take to become a successful fitness trainer?
Commitment, Good communication and listener. Able to recognise what your client needs, understanding and caring. Knowing the right diet plans for different goals and the right exercise routines."
What did you want to be when you were younger?
"A Commentator, I used to love playing football and commentating my own actions."
What is your favourite joke?
"What do you call a man with a spade on his head... Doug"
